I have met many friends who were counting calories from breakfast to dinner to achieve their shape. This can help to some extent. But this might not work well if you are not aware of some facts about foods and their ability to accelerate fat burning.
There are two categories of foods. Some foods accelerate the fat burning mechanism and others can slow down. For example, green chillies and tea are some foods known to accelerate fat burning in the stomach. There are certain dumb foods that actually slow down your metabolism. Any food rich in carbohydrates comes under this category.

Count calories, but not at the end of every tea or coffee or snack. Keep an eye on calories which is more than enough.
